Corruption Sting: Police Officer Caught Red-Handed in Jammu and Kashmir

In a significant anti-corruption operation, a Jammu and Kashmir police head constable was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking a bribe to release a vehicle involved in an accident.

The incident unfolded when a complaint was filed against Head Constable Mohmmad Alyas stationed at Thanamandi police station. The complainant, whose vehicle met with an accident en route to Shahdara Sharief, alleged that Alyas demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to return the seized vehicle.

The ACB laid a trap based on the complaint, catching Alyas red-handed while accepting the bribe. Subsequent searches were conducted at his residence. Authorities have filed a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, keeping further probes active.
