Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, has called for a more assertive stance concerning Ukraine's prospective membership in the European Union. On Friday, he argued that Moscow should reconsider its current approach.
Medvedev expressed concerns, stating that the EU is undergoing transformation beyond just an economic alliance. He cautioned that it could soon become a significant military alliance, explicitly opposing Russia, potentially posing a threat more severe than NATO.
"It's time to drop the tolerant attitude toward our neighbors joining what is now a military-economic European Union," Medvedev emphasized, highlighting the urgency of a strategic policy shift for Moscow.
