Crackdown on Adulterated Paneer Supply in Surat

A significant bust in Surat led to the seizure of 1,400 kilograms of adulterated paneer, worth Rs 3 lakh. The Surat Special Operation Group, in coordination with food safety officials, conducted the operation in the Bhidbhajan Society, revealing the widespread distribution of sub-standard paneer.

The laboratory results confirmed the paneer was adulterated, prompting authorities to file charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case targets supplier Mahesh Sharma, who allegedly distributed the tainted paneer to smaller dairies at the rate of Rs 220 per kg.

During the raid, law enforcement also uncovered and seized machinery and industrial chemicals like acetic acid and palm oil, cumulatively valued at Rs 28 lakh. Efforts are ongoing to tackle food adulteration in the region and ensure consumer safety.
