A former CIDCO official, Sagar Madanlalji Tapadia, alongside his wife, is embroiled in a disproportionate assets case in Navi Mumbai, authorities reported Thursday. This follows allegations that the couple amassed wealth far exceeding their legitimate income sources.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dharmaraj Sonke, announced the investigation targets the acquisition of Rs 1.94 crore in assets—173.36% beyond their disclosed earnings. Dismissed from his role as assistant colony officer at the CIDCO nodal office in Panvel, Tapadia and his wife, Manisha, are under intensified scrutiny.
The Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau's inquiry found that the couple's income totaled Rs 1.12 crore during the period in question, yet they accrued assets worth Rs 1.42 crore and incurred expenditures of Rs 1.64 crore. The Prevention of Corruption Act case is under investigation at Kharghar police station, with searches underway at the accused's home.
