Iran's Escalating Medical Crisis Amid Ongoing Conflict

Iran is grappling with an exponential rise in emergency medical needs as persistent U.S.-Israeli airstrikes worsen the humanitarian situation. Over 1,900 fatalities and 21,000 injuries have been reported, with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) being the only humanitarian group operating throughout the country.

Maria Martinez, head of the IFRC delegation in Iran, expressed concerns about rapidly escalating humanitarian needs and dwindling resources due to war-induced logistical difficulties. As U.S. President Donald Trump announced more aggressive strikes, the organization's ability to deliver aid remains hampered by logistical constraints and increasing supply costs.

The IFRC, managing a workforce of 100,000 responders across 31 provinces, faces difficulties in maintaining operations amid power cuts and internet outages.
