Authorities have detained a mobile shop proprietor in Katihar district, accused of acquiring motherboards from stolen phones and exporting them overseas, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.

The individual, named Istaar Alam, was apprehended by a combined force from Bihar's Special Task Force (STF) and Uttar Pradesh police at his Rautara locality shop on Wednesday evening. Alam was wanted by UP Police related to a case filed at Lalganj police station on March 17.

According to a Bihar STF statement, during questioning, Alam confessed to collaborating with partners in Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu, and New Delhi to sell and distribute stolen phone motherboards. This activity suggests an illegal transfer of Indian users' mobile data to foreign entities, signifying a significant crime. The Bihar STF continues to seek his associates across various states.
