Chanchal Kumar Takes Charge as Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting

In a significant administrative development, Shri Chanchal Kumar, a seasoned IAS officer of the 1992 Bihar cadre, formally assumed charge as Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), Government of India. His tenure contributed to improved project execution and enhanced inter-ministerial coordination in a region of strategic importance.

He has also served as Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, a sector that witnessed significant expansion in recent years. During his tenure, India emerged as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally, with passenger traffic rebounding strongly post-pandemic and regional connectivity schemes such as UDAN expanding air travel access to Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

One of Shri Kumar's notable contributions has been his role as Managing Director of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). Under his leadership, the organization executed key highway and infrastructure projects in challenging terrains, particularly in border and northeastern regions.
