Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has challenged opposition leaders to provide any evidence they possess to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the allegations against 'godman' Ashok Kharat. Bawankule criticized the opposition for making public statements instead of contributing constructively to the investigation.
The arrest of Ashok Kharat on charges of repeated rape has spurred numerous complaints and legal actions. As the SIT continues its investigation, it has detained Kharat’s son Harshvardhan for questioning and conducted searches at Kharat’s office, uncovering relevant documents and files.
With a significant volume of accusations, including at least 10 FIRs filed, the case has raised questions about potential political links. Despite the serious nature of the charges, Minister Bawankule assured that the rule of law remains intact and dismissed any concerns about governmental stability.
