Himachal Government Rebuffs Demand for Outlined Policy for Outsourced Workers

The Himachal Pradesh government has dismissed demands to develop a distinct policy providing job security to outsourced employees. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated on Wednesday that no new strategy will be introduced for these workers, who have sought permanent contracts for enhanced job security.

Approximately 13,000 outsourced workers are present across various government sectors, as per Sukhu's written response to questions from BJP MLAs Prakash Rana and Janak Raj. He clarified these workers are not considered regular government employees and thus are not subject to long-term contracts.

Existing guidelines mandate remuneration disbursed by service agencies by the 7th of each month to ensure timely payments. Importantly, Sukhu noted that no cases of delayed salary payments have come to the government's attention over the past two years.
