Cybercriminal Ring Busted in Jharkhand: Major Blow to Online Fraud
Five cybercriminals, including a man involved in 26 fraud cases, were arrested in Jharkhand's Giridih and Deoghar districts, significantly impacting online banking scams. The arrests were made following tips, and phones and SIM cards were seized from the suspects, who impersonated bank officials to commit fraud.

In a significant move against online banking fraud, police have arrested five cybercriminals in Jharkhand's Giridih and Deoghar districts. Among those apprehended is Ramesh Mandal, a 29-year-old man wanted in 26 separate cyber fraud cases. His arrest took place at a deserted location near Kaju Bagan in the Giridih district, following a tip-off received via the Pratibimb app. Alongside Mandal, Ranjit Kumar Mandal and Ashish Mandal were also detained.
The suspects were in possession of four mobile phones and five SIM cards, which have been confiscated by authorities. The arrested individuals confessed to engaging in illegal activities by distributing fake APK files and posing as bank officials. This operation has been a cumulative effort to halt such cybercrimes that have been affecting residents across multiple regions.
Over in Deoghar district, two more individuals were captured in the Bhura forest area. These arrests were made after intelligence suggested that some people were impersonating customer care executives to phish for financial information. The suspects were found with two mobile phones and three SIM cards, adding to the stockpile of evidence against cybercriminal activities in the region.
