Arrests Made in Alleged Abduction and Forced Conversion Case
Two men were arrested for allegedly abducting a Dalit minor girl, forcing her religious conversion, and marrying her in Muzaffarnagar. Two men have been apprehended in connection with the alleged abduction, unlawful religious conversion, and marriage of a Dalit minor girl, officials reported on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Talib and Shadab, were detained on Tuesday. The incident reportedly took place earlier this month, police confirmed.
According to Circle Officer Gajendra Pal Singh, the duo has been charged under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. Additional charges under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act have been filed. Police disclosed that the minor was taken from Muzaffarnagar to Jabalpur, forced to convert her religion, and married to Talib through 'nikah'. October 26 saw her recovery, leading to the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
