The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday directed the West Bengal government to present the case diary in connection to a police complaint filed by minister Birbaha Hansda against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. The complaint alleges Adhikari made derogatory remarks under the SC/ST Act.
Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, has petitioned for the case to be quashed. Hearing his plea, Justice Jay Sengupta instructed the state to provide the case diary by November 11, when the matter is set to be reconsidered.
The state's representative urged the court not to impose any stay on the proceedings against Adhikari. Justice Sengupta emphasized that a decision would be made only after all parties, including the complainant, are heard.
