In a significant development for West Bengal's higher education sector, Governor C V Ananda Bose has approved the appointments of new vice-chancellors for several state universities.
The appointees include Prof Abu Taleb Khan for Biswa Bangla Biswavidyalaya and Prof Chandradipa Ghosh for Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University among others.
Education Minister Bratya Basu hailed the selections as aligning with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's first choices, marking a resolution to previous disagreements with the Raj Bhavan.
