In a disturbing development, seven labourers have been abducted by armed men in the volatile Balochistan province of Pakistan, security sources reported on Thursday.
The abduction occurred in the Siyah Posh area of Dasht, located within Mastung district, known for its rugged terrain.
The labourers, five hailing from Sindh and two local to the area, were engaged in constructing a new security checkpoint when they were seized by unidentified gunmen. The incident, which took place two days ago, remains unresolved as the labourers are yet to be found.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, Pakistan's largest province by area. It has faced frequent attacks targeting security personnel and labourers, often attributed to separatist factions opposed to federal projects, such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, arguing these initiatives marginalize local communities.
