The Jammu and Kashmir government is advancing its initiative to integrate Hindi into official communications, aiming for inclusivity and wider accessibility through the Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Act, 2020. As per recent assembly discussions, trilingual government websites are being developed, offering content in Hindi, Urdu, and English.
Various measures have been undertaken, including ensuring bilingual responses to Hindi correspondences, the establishment of official language sections in public libraries, and the creation of a comprehensive database to enhance language cell functionality. A report identifying the use of official languages is pending acceptance after finance department clarifications.
The government is also exploring training modules and workshops in collaboration with the J-K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages to further propel the practical use of official languages. Efforts to establish boards for the promotion of languages like Sanskrit are also being considered to foster classical language initiatives.
