Massive Bureaucratic Reshuffle Shakes West Bengal Ahead of Electoral Roll Revision

The West Bengal government has undertaken a significant reshuffle of its bureaucratic ranks, transferring over 500 officers. This move coincides with the launch of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state.

On Monday, 67 IAS and 460 West Bengal Civil Services (Executive) officers were transferred in one of the largest single-day reshuffles. This was confirmed through notifications from the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department.

The opposition BJP has raised concerns, alleging that the transfers obstruct the SIR process. In contrast, the ruling TMC describes the reshuffle as a standard procedural measure, unlinked to the newly announced electoral roll revisions.
