Rajasthan Deputy CM Hails Special Revision of Electoral Rolls

In a progressive move toward electoral accuracy, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari endorsed the Election Commission's second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. This step is seen as crucial in addressing historical inaccuracies, including the omission of around 30,000 names during her election when Congress held power.

Addressing the media, Kumari remarked on the significance of the exercise, emphasizing the importance of rectifying voter list discrepancies. She criticized previous oversights and highlighted the current government's commitment to correcting these mistakes. The Election Commission's initiative is poised to enhance electoral integrity across 12 states and union territories.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the detailed timeline for this revision, involving comprehensive processes from October 28 to February 7, 2026. The exercise spans states such as Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, with the final electoral rolls scheduled for publication in early February 2026. The initiative includes phases of printing, training, enumeration, and a period for claims and objections, ensuring a meticulous revision process.
