A court deferred a pivotal hearing to November 25 concerning the jurisdiction in the Neelkanth Mahadev temple and Shamsi Jama Masjid case. The Civil Judge (Senior Division)/Fast Track Court Judge Pushpendra Chaudhary examined the case and set the new date after taking over from Judge Suman Tiwari, who is on maternity leave.
The controversy surged in 2022 when Mukesh Patel from the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha claimed that the temple existed on the mosque's site. Patel's pursuit of worship rights has now arrived at another critical junction, as the mosque's legal representation argues that the lower court lacks jurisdiction due to a Supreme Court directive.
Advocate Anwar Alam, for the mosque, referenced the 1991 Places of Worship Act, asserting jurisdiction issues. However, the temple's legal team contends the Supreme Court's order doesn't apply. With the hearing adjourned, the matter remains unresolved as both sides brace for the next legal round.
