A senior police officer in Palakkad has come under fire after posting a controversial WhatsApp status criticizing President Droupadi Murmu's recent Sabarimala visit. The officer's status claimed that the visit violated religious customs and High Court rules, sparking discussions throughout the community.
The officer, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, later removed the status, asserting that it was posted inadvertently. He explained that he was reading a forwarded message while traveling on a train and accidentally set it as his status. The error was only realized when friends began contacting him about it.
The Palakkad District Police Chief has now requested an explanation from the officer to clarify the situation. The incident has drawn attention to the application of religious customs and legal adjudications in high-profile visits.
