Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pratul Shah Deo has reaffirmed the party's backing for the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, emphasizing the Election Commission of India's independence. Deo criticized those questioning voter list revisions, hinting at a lack of trust in the fairness of elections.
Deo accused opposition parties of resisting the SIR process, suggesting their actions have ulterior motives to maintain questionable voter entries. He specifically indicated that opposition fears over the removal of certain communities from the lists signaled political strategies reliant on ineligible voters.
The Election Commission is set to elaborate on the SIR process in a press conference. Echoing Deo's call for transparency, West Bengal's Suvendu Adhikari highlighted inaccuracies in state voter lists, urging thorough revisions to eliminate fictitious voters and secure electoral integrity.
