Demand for Regularisation: PHE Workers Protest
Daily wage workers of Jammu's PHE department protested, demanding the tabling of a report on regularising their services. This follows a previous protest during the Assembly session. Opposition is urged to pressure the government to act. The report's fate remains unknown, as its submission was due in September.

In a rally that underscores the persistent demands of daily wage workers, members of the Public Health Engineering department in Jammu staged a protest on Monday. The workers are pressing for the state government to present a report on the formalisation of their positions.
This marks a continuation of escalating tensions, as the PHE Employees United Front had already gathered earlier this week with the same demands, coinciding with the opening of the Assembly session. The leader of the United Front, Ravi Hans, expressed the workers' frustration and their insistence on swift government action.
The situation is exacerbated by the end of the committee's term, initially established by the Omar Abdullah administration to address these employment issues. With an estimated 67,000 daily wage workers affected across Jammu and Kashmir, the urgency for a policy response has never been more critical.
