Statue Vandalism Sparks Protests in Jammu and Kashmir

Three individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the alleged vandalism of a statue of B R Ambedkar in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, authorities reported on Monday.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed under Section 196 and Section 324(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Bani police station after a complaint was lodged regarding the statue's desecration in a local park, according to officials.
The discovery of the damaged statue in the Bani area on Sunday led to immediate protests by local residents, notably members of the Dalit community, who are demanding stringent measures against those responsible.
