US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, expressed great optimism about the robust state of US-India relations on Friday, following the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
'It's been a very impactful summit,' Gor remarked, discussing the numerous opportunities for collaboration between the two countries. His keynote address coincided with the announcement of India's entry into the Pax Silica initiative, underscoring a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties.
The Pax Silica coalition, according to Gor, represents a 'coalition of the capable and the willing,' positioning India as a crucial partner in the initiative's aspiration to maintain technological leadership within democratic nations.
Gor celebrated India's participation as a co-founder of the coalition, defining the partnership of two of the world’s largest democracies as 'limitless.' In his address, Gor spoke extensively about his travels in India, praising not only the country's scale but also the spirit and determination of its people.
'The potential between our two nations is truly limitless, extending to trade, defense cooperation, and beyond. This foundation is built on recent agreements that shape the Indo-Pacific's economic and technological landscape,' Gor stated, highlighting the importance of recent diplomatic accomplishments.
The Pax Silica alliance, inaugurated in December 2025, aims to shield critical technology from international instability and coercive dependencies, with India's role framed as strategic and essential due to its deep technological talent.
'Peace comes through strength and sovereignty, which Pax Silica amplifies,' emphasized Gor. He argued that the partnership fundamentally integrates technological progress with national security needs.
India's commitment to innovation, particularly through collaboration with Silicon Valley, positions it as a key player in this coalition aimed at securing technological prowess against coercive surveillance states.
This week's announcements included landmark initiatives like the India-America Connect subsea cable and Google's substantial investment, propelling the US-India tech collaboration further into the future.
The Summit, part of a series following earlier gatherings in the UK, South Korea, and France, attracted global participation, setting the stage for ongoing discussions on AI development.
