India and the US are poised to sign an interim trade agreement this March, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. The agreement is expected to become effective by April.

In addition to the US deal, India is also working on implementing free trade agreements with the UK and Oman in April. A separate agreement with New Zealand is expected to be finalized by September.

This announcement follows a joint statement from India and the US declaring that a framework for the interim agreement has been completed. A three-day meeting to finalize the legal text is scheduled to begin on February 23 in the US.
