In a significant development, India on Friday signed the Pax Silica Declaration, enhancing its collaboration with the United States during the Global AI Impact Summit in the national capital. Key figures present at the signing included U.S. Ambassador to India Segio Gor and Ashwini Vaishnaw, India's Union Minister for Information Technology.

Ambassador Gor emphasized the growing partnership between the countries, stating that India’s participation signifies a choice for freedom and innovation over surveillance. The Pax Silica initiative aims at ensuring that technological progress aligns with the values of free societies.

Jacob Helberg, U.S. Under Secretary of State, commended India's decision, suggesting that economic security translates into national security, making the Pax Silica Declaration a cornerstone for resisting economic coercion. This comes after India’s involvement in the Critical Minerals Ministerial, signaling a robust strategic alignment with the U.S.
