Police have clarified that a viral video depicting a man in a disoriented state in Thane was not due to a 'zombie drug' but resulted from an overdose of Pregabalin, a nerve pain medication. The incident, originally misattributed on social media, involved Sameer Rajendra Rawal, a laborer from Nepal.

The man, seen in a dizzy condition in the Bhayander area of Thane city, was traced to a road on April 17. During questioning, Rawal revealed he had been using Pregabalin tablets for intoxication over the past two years.

Authorities discovered he purchased the drugs from a medical shop in Navghar without a prescription. Legal action is forthcoming against the shopkeeper for illegally supplying the Schedule-H drug, as investigated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
