In a significant development, the Jharkhand government has secured the Centre's approval to establish four new medical colleges through a public-private partnership. This initiative is aimed at bolstering medical education and healthcare services across the state.
The proposed medical colleges, with capacities ranging from 50 to 100 MBBS seats, will be located in Khunti, Jamtara, Dhanbad, and Giridih, as confirmed by an official statement. The approval falls under the Centre's Scheme for Establishment of Medical Colleges in PPP Mode, intended to expand healthcare access and education nationwide.
Additional Chief Secretary of Jharkhand's Health and Medical Education Department, Ajoy Kumar Singh, stressed that the new colleges would improve local healthcare access and create jobs for the community. This move is expected to increase the number of specialist doctors in rural and semi-urban areas, drastically improving the region's health infrastructure.
