Andhra Pradesh Advances Solar Manufacturing with Rs 5,400-Crore ReNew Facility

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is set to lay the cornerstone for a Rs 5,400-crore solar manufacturing facility near Visakhapatnam on April 23. This substantial project under Andhra Pradesh's Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 represents a significant investment in building a robust domestic solar supply chain, as confirmed by officials on Wednesday.

The planned facility in Anakapalli will focus on manufacturing solar ingots and wafers, significantly lowering import reliance while enhancing India's energy security. Part of a broader Rs 82,000-crore investment, the project promises over 2,100 jobs, marking a substantial boost in the region's industrial growth and employment figures.

As India races towards its 2030 target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity, the state government underscores its commitment to becoming a major player in global clean energy investments. Andhra Pradesh aims to leverage its progressive policies and robust infrastructure to position itself as the ideal hub for renewable energy initiatives.
