As the anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack approaches, families of the victims continue to mourn their losses while urging the government to honor promises made after the tragedy. On April 22, 2025, Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 individuals in the tourist region of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, leaving an indelible mark on their loved ones.
Sangeeta Ganbote, widow of the late Kaustubh Ganbote, emphasized the senselessness of targeting civilians. She remarked, "Nothing is achieved by killing ordinary people," urging individuals in conflict with governments to seek dialogue instead of violence.
Another bereaved family member, Priyadarshini Acharya, wife of the late Prasanta Satpathy, discussed the unfulfilled promises of government support. Despite initial assurances of a government job and educational assistance for her child, only financial aid has been provided, highlighting the need for swift governmental action to fulfill commitments.
The attack prompted Operation Sindoor, where Indian forces targeted terror bases across the border, leading to significant enemy losses. Yet, despite these tensions, the past year has seen Kashmir become a favored destination for tourists once again. Visitors, like Vishal, praise the safety and hospitable nature of the region, demonstrating its remarkable resilience and recovery a year after the horrific incident.
