Ensuring Safety: India's Coordinated Efforts in West Asia

India's Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways has confirmed that all Indian seafarers in the West Asia region, particularly the Persian Gulf, are safe. No incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels have been reported, and port operations remain uninterrupted across the country, an official stated on Friday.

In an inter-ministerial briefing, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary in the Ministry, emphasized that maritime operations continue to function without any congestion. Core communication channels have processed thousands of calls and emails, culminating in the safe repatriation of more than 2,400 Indian seafarers, including 30 returned in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Missions, maintains seamless coordination to safeguard the welfare of seafarers. Joint Secretary (Gulf) Aseem Mahajan highlighted the proactive measures being taken to ensure citizen safety amidst regional volatility. Control rooms play a pivotal role in this coordinated effort, ensuring continuous communication and timely support.
