In a significant development, the Delhi High Court has granted bail to Haris Nisar Langoo and Zamin Adil Bhat, involved in a high-profile terror case investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) since 2022. Their previous bail applications were rejected by the trial court in March this year, leading to a legal appeal that prompted this latest decision.
Upon granting bail, the High Court set rigorous conditions to prevent any involvement in anti-national activities, especially on social media platforms. The court specifically barred the accused from joining platforms such as WhatsApp, where there is potential for uploading or sharing inflammatory content. The accused were instructed to submit a formal undertaking to this effect before the trial court.
Two Justices, Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja of the Division Bench, underscored the importance of strict conditions given the charges under stringent anti-terror laws. The court mandated a bail sum of Rs. 50,000 along with two sureties of a similar amount. This decision reflects a measured approach balancing legal precedents and concerns of national security.
