The Delhi High Court has announced the release on bail of Haris Nisar Langoo and Zamin Adil Bhat, who stand accused in a high-profile terror case initiated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2022. Their earlier bids for bail were denied by a trial court in March 2023, prompting them to contest the decision.
Justice Navin Chawla and Justice Ravinder Dudeja's division bench outlined strict conditions for the duo's release. Haris and Zamin are barred from using WhatsApp or other social media platforms to engage in anti-national activities. The court made it clear they must not circulate such content and must provide an undertaking to this effect to the trial court.
The High Court's decision aligns with previous bail grants to three other accused individuals in similar situations and took into account the dismissal of charges against another defendant. The bench stressed the necessity of stringent conditions under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), ensuring national security is not compromised while safeguarding the trial process's integrity.
