On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh's Energy Minister, G Ravi Kumar, stated that aquaculture farmers in the state benefit from a reduced power rate of Rs 1.5 per unit, thanks to government subsidies.

Addressing the legislative assembly, the minister revealed that while the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission sets the price at Rs 3.85, the government has introduced a Rs 2.35 subsidy for the 5.2 lakh aquaculture farmers.

The initiative further includes the approval of 50,000 new power connections, with subsidies being allocated strategically based on zone classifications by the Fisheries Department.
