Power Boost: Andhra Pradesh's Subsidy Slashes Aquaculture Energy Costs
Andhra Pradesh's government has announced a significant power subsidy for aquaculture farmers, offering electricity at Rs 1.5 per unit instead of the regulated Rs 3.85. This initiative aids 5.2 lakh farmers with additional connections sanctioned. The subsidy is strategically distributed across different zones to ensure coverage.

On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh's Energy Minister, G Ravi Kumar, stated that aquaculture farmers in the state benefit from a reduced power rate of Rs 1.5 per unit, thanks to government subsidies.
Addressing the legislative assembly, the minister revealed that while the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission sets the price at Rs 3.85, the government has introduced a Rs 2.35 subsidy for the 5.2 lakh aquaculture farmers.
The initiative further includes the approval of 50,000 new power connections, with subsidies being allocated strategically based on zone classifications by the Fisheries Department.
