India's Ports to Undergo AI-Driven Transformation

India stands to save Rs 20,000 crore annually through artificial intelligence in port operations, according to Gourav Vallabh from the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. Speaking at the AI Impact Summit, Vallabh pointed out India's potential leadership in technology and underscored the urgency of AI adoption for lowering logistics costs.

With 95% of India's trade moving through maritime channels, Vallabh noted the critical importance of enhancing both infrastructure and intelligence at ports. He argued for swift policy action to make port logistics more efficient and competitive by 2047.

Industry leaders like Subrat Tripathy and Susanta Kumar Purohit highlighted AI's role in improving operations, from virtual concierge services to weather prediction. Legal expert Aprajita Rana stressed the need for AI governance to ensure safe and authentic data usage in the industry.
