Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning a Rs 38,000 crore fertiliser subsidy to bolster farmers during the Rabi season. This decision, approved in a Cabinet meeting led by Modi, aims to provide significant support to the agricultural sector, according to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

Minister Chouhan noted satisfactory sowing activities during the Kharif 2025 season, with an increase in the total sown area for paddy. Additionally, oilseeds and pulses sowing saw remarkable growth. A favorable monsoon, adequate rainfall, and improved reservoir water levels have provided an optimistic outlook for the sector's future.

With harvesting of Kharif crops underway and the Rabi sowing in its nascent stages, Chouhan emphasized the achievements driven by the Central government's farmer-oriented policies. The government plans to maintain its supportive stance, working alongside states to ensure increased sowing and productivity, fortifying national food security.
