Allegations have surfaced against the Haryana government over shortages of fertilisers, with farmers reportedly treated ''like criminals,'' according to Congress and INLD leaders. The opposition claims that officials are stamping farmers' hands as they queue for supplies, suggesting systemic mismanagement.
In a heated statement, Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala criticised the BJP's handling of the crisis, noting that farmers are enduring insult on top of injury. Surjewala highlighted that, apart from supply issues, those attempting to collect fertilisers are being humiliated with hand stamps.
Adding to the grievances, INLD chief Abhay Singh Chautala pointed out that the allocation of fertiliser is limited, with only two bags of DAP provided per Aadhaar card. The crisis is compounded by standing water in fields and inadequate compensation for crop damage, affecting farmers' ability to sow subsequent crops.
