In Maharashtra's Satara, the suicide of a woman doctor has prompted Minister Pankaja Munde to pledge a comprehensive investigation, vowing that justice will be served. Munde emphasized the importance of avoiding a media trial and acknowledged the tragedy of a healthcare professional facing such distress.
The doctor left a note on her hand implicating a police official and two others, leading to legal action. Satara's Superintendent of Police, Tushar Doshi, confirmed the case involves charges of rape and abetment to suicide, with the implicated police officer already suspended.
Efforts are underway to trace the accused, as pressure reportedly mounted on the victim to falsify post-mortem reports, according to her cousin, who calls for stringent punishment. The incident highlights concerns over political and police pressure on medical professionals.
