A significant human trafficking ring has been dismantled following the arrest of three individuals involved in selling a young girl from Meghalaya for Rs 3 lakh, culminating in her forced marriage in Rajasthan. The suspects are part of a larger network suspected of trafficking multiple girls from the Northeast over the past two years.
The operation came to light after a missing person report filed in June led police to discover that the girl had escaped captivity in Rajasthan and was subsequently rescued. Authorities believe the traffickers exploit social media to befriend young women, promising marriage or employment as a lure, before selling them.
The arrests include the primary suspect, Rajesh Hinge, and alleged gang leader Monika, among others. Officials are coordinating with police across Assam, Tripura, and Rajasthan to pursue further arrests and dismantle the trafficking network. The public is urged to remain vigilant online and report any suspicious activities to prevent further exploitation.
