In a landmark operation, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police have executed a series of anti-narcotics operations, resulting in the arrest of six individuals in Manipur's Senapati and Kangpokpi districts. Officials announced that 270 soap cases of Brown Sugar, weighing approximately 3.636 kg and valued at an estimated Rs 7.26 crore, were confiscated.

The operation in Manipur coincided with a similar crackdown in Assam's Cachar district, where Assam Police, collaborating with Assam Rifles, seized 10,000 Yaba tablets and 1.25 lakh packets of Esse light cigarettes. The contraband, with an estimated market worth of Rs eight crore, was intercepted along the Assam-Manipur border.

Senior Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta emphasized the role of reliable intelligence in the riverine operation under the Lakhipur Police Station jurisdiction. The seized items, suspected to have been illegally transported from Churachandpur, were discovered on a country-made boat in the Barak river, marking a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking.
