Security has been ramped up throughout Kashmir as the region marks the anniversary of the deadly attack that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including tourists, in Pahalgam last year. Police and paramilitary deployments are visible across critical locations to ensure the safety of events honoring the victims.
The April 2025 attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists had initially decimated tourist numbers, forcing the temporary closure of numerous attractions. However, a year later, Pahalgam's scenic meadows are once again bustling, thanks to new safety protocols ensuring peace of mind for visitors.
Among these measures is the introduction of a unique QR code system for all tourism service providers, enabling instant verification of their credentials. Headed by Kashmir IGP V K Birdi, authorities have prioritized enhancing security at key installations and tourist spots to support the region's revival.
