Turbocharging Pilgrim Pathways: Maharashtra's Push for Development
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged officials to hasten the Pandharpur development plan to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience for Warkari devotees. The plan includes substantial infrastructure upgrades along palkhi routes, with a focus on roads, sanitation, and permanent facilities to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims during the Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in a recent meeting, emphasized the urgency in expediting the Pandharpur development plan to accommodate the thousands of Warkari pilgrims expected for the Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage.
Fadnavis highlighted the necessity for infrastructure improvements along the palkhi routes of Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram, aiming to ensure a hassle-free spiritual journey for devotees. The Rs 1,303 crore initiative has seen significant progress, with Rs 964 crore sanctioned and Rs 959 crore already utilized on key enhancements like sanitation, road repairs, and lighting.
Ahead of Ashadhi Ekadashi, the Chief Minister called for additional permanent infrastructure at halting points. Officials confirmed completion of most projects and assured the smooth implementation of this pilgrimage, underscored by the planned provision of 5,000 mobile toilets and the nearing completion of essential highway segments.
