During the annual Khongjom Day celebration, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla called for the upholding of key values such as integrity, communal harmony, and respect for law as true tributes to the martyrs. Bhalla addressed attendees at the Khongjom War Memorial, recognizing the bravery displayed by Manipuri heroes in the 1891 Anglo-Manipur War.

Emphasizing the event's significance, Bhalla described Khongjom Day as both a day of remembrance and reflection. He highlighted the importance of unity, self-respect, and resilience, and pointed out that true patriotism involves building an inclusive, progressive society by empowering youth and preserving Manipur's rich cultural heritage.

Chief Minister Khemchand Singh echoed these sentiments and expressed pride in the state's history of bravery. Discussing recent violent incidents, Singh urged citizens not to engage in actions that could impede development or foster discord, encouraging a collective effort towards peace and progress in Manipur.
