During the annual Khongjom Day celebration, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla called for the upholding of key values such as integrity, communal harmony, and respect for law as true tributes to the martyrs. Bhalla addressed attendees at the Khongjom War Memorial, recognizing the bravery displayed by Manipuri heroes in the 1891 Anglo-Manipur War.
