Guruvayur in Kerala is on the brink of becoming a hub for advanced veterinary care, particularly for elephants and cattle, thanks to the Devaswom Board overseeing the Sree Krishna Temple. A specialized team from Vantara recently evaluated the prospect of setting up a cutting-edge animal hospital.
Vantara, a global initiative by Reliance Foundation, aims to rescue, care, and rehabilitate animals and has shown interest in the project during their visit to Punnathur Kotta, Guruvayur's elephant camp. This inspection gauged the current infrastructure and the potential to establish a state-of-the-art veterinary facility.
The visit was triggered by Anant Ambani's tour and subsequent discussions with Devaswom authorities, leading to technical consultations. The team also suggested a follow-up visit to Gujarat's Vantara facility for a more detailed study. During their visit, they examined elephant Nandan and provided advanced clinical recommendations, commending the healthcare standards at Punnathur Kotta.
