In a bold move, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has proposed replacing 'Greenwich Mean Time' with 'Mahakal Standard Time' (MST), citing Ujjain's historical significance in timekeeping as a justification. During the inaugural session of the 'Mahakal The Master of Time International Conference', Pradhan lauded Ujjain as a convergence point of the Equator and the Tropic of Cancer, advocating for its global recognition as the original center of time calculation.
Highlighting the intricate connection between science and spirituality, Pradhan emphasized the urgent need to renew India's scientific pride on a global stage. He stressed the integration of AI and modern computational thinking into the educational curriculum, aiming to keep Indian students competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape. His vision extends to linguistically diverse education systems that prioritize understanding complex scientific concepts in native languages.
The Madhya Pradesh government, represented by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, echoed Pradhan's sentiments, pledging substantial investment in Ujjain's infrastructure to fortify its dual identity as both a religious and a scientific city. As part of a massive transformation, plans for hosting the world's largest cultural fair, Simhastha-2028, are underway, expected to attract a staggering 35 to 40 crore devotees.
