INS Sunayna, a pivotal Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Indian Navy, set sail from Mumbai, initiating the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR mission. This effort underscores India's commitment to reinforcing regional maritime security and fostering international cooperation. The vessel's launch was officiated by Sanjay Seth, Minister of State for Defence, and witnessed by Naval Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi.
Emphasizing the IOS SAGAR initiative, Seth lauded it as a symbol of India's strategic vision and a broad spectrum of partnerships aimed at collective peace. His remarks highlighted the recent return of INSV Kaundinya from Oman, an embodiment of strengthened maritime ties, and projected a vision for broader regional collaboration under the Mission MAHASAGAR framework.
Admiral Tripathi addressed evolving maritime challenges, including competition over strategic resources, and piracy, reinforcing the necessity of collaborative maritime defense. The mission's operations span several key Southeast Asian and South Asian ports, enhancing skills in seamanship and advanced maritime practices, before concluding in Kochi, India.
