With the Char Dham Yatra fast approaching, the need for commercial LPG cylinders is poised to skyrocket, potentially reaching more than 9.5 lakh units. In response, state officials are actively seeking increased supplies from the central government, highlighting a growing logistical challenge.

The Department of Food and Civil Supplies, under Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan's directive, has concluded a proposal to assess the LPG demands of approximately 14,900 registered hotels, restaurants, and other facilities. This comes as an influx of pilgrims and tourists is anticipated to markedly boost LPG consumption.

Anand Swarup, Secretary of Food and Civil Supplies, indicated that oil companies have already responded by doubling their supply capacity, scaling up from 3,000 to over 6,000 cylinders per day. This year's Char Dham Yatra will commence on April 19 with the opening of religious portals.
