Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, lauded the state of Odisha for its rich cultural heritage and steadfast resilience on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa, or statehood day. In a letter addressed to Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, Modi reflected on the invaluable contributions of the state's historical figures.
Underlining Odisha's strides in connectivity and industrial growth, Modi noted significant investments in railways and roads, boosting tourism and logistics. He emphasized schemes like PM-JANMAN for tribal upliftment and praised port-led development, including initiatives at Paradip and the proposed Rare Earth Corridor for strategic minerals.
Praising Odisha's selection to host the 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championships, Modi commended Majhi's efforts in preserving the Odia language and empowering women through initiatives like Subhadra Yojana. He assured continued federal support in making Odisha a pivotal player in India's economic and cultural landscape.
