Embarking on Digital Transformation: Odisha's New Era of Census 2027
Odisha rolls out the self-enumeration facility for Census 2027, marking India's first digital census. Odisha marked a significant milestone on Wednesday with the launch of the self-enumeration facility for the upcoming Census 2027. Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati led by example, completing his online self-enumeration and encouraging all residents to follow suit, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive count for effective planning and development.
The introduction of digital self-enumeration, available until April 15, empowers citizens to submit their information directly via the portal. This marks India's first venture into a digital census, aiming for increased accuracy and inclusivity, as emphasized by the governor in his video message.
The Census process will advance into its first phase from April 16 to May 15, encompassing house listing operations across all 30 districts of the state. Directed by Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, this phase will involve over 1 lakh trained enumerators and 17,282 supervisors. The subsequent primary population enumeration phase is scheduled for February 2027.
