Renowned music director Ilayaraaja recently presented concerns to the Madras High Court over the unauthorized use of his compositions. The musician asserted that two of his songs were used in a recent Tamil film without prior approval.
Ilayaraaja's legal representative made a case against three music companies, including Sony Music Entertainment India Private Limited, for allegedly using his work without authorization. The judge, however, directed the filing of a separate plea for this matter.
Meanwhile, Sony Music submitted revenue data generated from the use of Ilayaraaja's songs, but the court refused to accept it due to an ongoing related issue in the Supreme Court. The case is scheduled for its next hearing on November 19.
