The Haryana government has sanctioned a budget of Rs 747 crore for the financial year 2026-27 under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman scheme, aiming to supply nutritious food to schoolchildren statewide.

In a meeting led by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, the state level steering-cum-monitoring committee approved the allocation, comprising a Central share of Rs 222 crore and a state share of Rs 525 crore. Director of Elementary Education, Manita Malik, indicated that more than 14.8 lakh children, ranging from pre-school to upper primary levels, would benefit from the scheme.

The committee assessed the current meal menu and nutritional offerings like milk, protein-based products, peanut 'pinni', and 'kheer', prioritizing strict adherence to quality and hygiene standards. Regular inspections and feedback collection were emphasized to ensure meal standards remain uncompromised. Discussions also focused on improving fund utilization efficiency and the timely release of instalments.
